The Art of the Bow and Arrow: Marksman Soloing

Hello everyone! Welcome back for more information on the Hunter! This week I will write a guide on how to PvE and how to Solo with a Marksmanship Hunter. Well for starters we know that your pet is NOT going to be able to hold the Aggro since you now have really good DPS. I never do this but if you don’t want the enemy to get close to you I would use frost trap which will slow them down and then I would just shoot him, but since I never do that I’ll tell you what I do. I set down an explosive trap, and I send the pet in to tank for the short amount of time that he can. Then I start off by using concussive shot, and then steady for that extra boost of damage. After that I would probably have taken the aggro from my pet. In case this happens I tend to use wing clip to slow them down a little bit while I kite them around. While kiting I will use shots such as concussive shot, arcane shot, multi-shot, I won’t use steady shot or aimed shot because it takes too long to cast it while kiting. And that’s basically what I do when I solo normal mobs. Moving onto Instances. When in an instance I will pull aggro from the tank from time to time due to high DPS. Which is a bad thing to do. When in an istance I try to keep my DPS to a minimum. I got myself a really nice mod that will show how much threat I am causing through my attacks. That mod is called Omen Threat Meter which can be obtained at wowui.incgamers.com now that I have this mod I try to keep my DPS down because it will alert me when I am about to pass the aggro on the tank. While in an instance I will use my shots in the following order: concussive shot, steady shot, arcane shot, aimed shot, serpent sting, aimed shot, multi-shot. Then I just repeat the process once I finish doing that. And by the way, I am not marksmanship anymore, I have a new tree build of 41/13/7. But I am going to respec again soon. I went to BM again so I could help a few people. Waffulz doesn’t like me as a MM Hunter because I beat him =D, but the new spec I am going to switch to is both great for damage and crits. Well this is all I got for this week. Come back for more next time.

The Art of Bow and Arrow: Hunter Equipment

Welcome back everyone for another article on the Hunter class. This time I will be talking about the equipment and the stats you should have on your Hunter.

So, as we all know hunters can use Mail, Leather, and Cloth. I would not recommend that you wear cloth though. My equipment right now is not the best but it will do well for now until I am doing Karazhan and other raids. All of my equipment is Mail; I have no Leather or cloth for equipment.

The stats that you should focus on your gear would have to be in the following order, Agility, Stamina and Intellect. Do not worry about Strength and Spirit because those are not very useful for the hunter class. Let me tell you why you should focus on those three stats only. Agility is good for hunters because it raises your attack power; your pets attack power, and your critical strike chance. Well you know what the Stamina does, but in case your new to the game and don’t know, Stamina will increase your Health Points and your pet’s Health Points. Intellect increases you Mana. The pets do not have Mana so Intellect is only good for the player.

If you would like to see what my equipment looks like then scroll up to the top of the page and click on my name which should give you a link to the WoW Armory.

Well I hope you enjoyed reading this article. Come back next week for more information on the awesome Hunter class!

The Art of Bow and Arrow: Hunter Talent Trees

Ok, so I'll be talking about the Hunter talent trees today. I'll start off by talking about the Beast Mastery tree.

Most people usually go with that spec because it is the best for soloing and leveling. This tree has a lot of talents that make your pet stronger, faster, and these talents also transfer some of it to you. Things like Intimidation, and Bestial Wrath. There is Kill Command, which will cause your pet to attack for an additional 127 damage.

Most people think and use Marksmanship for PvP. The good thing about Marksmanship is that you can get Improved Concussive, Aimed Shot, and Silencing Shot, which is very good against spell casters. This is the tree that will give you great crits with your Shots.

Moving on to Survival. This talent tree is good because it increases your crit chance and your stamina. Of other things that this spec is good for is that it decreases your cooldown on certain abilities, and can automatically end the cooldown of any ability with Readiness.

This is Thokkan, come back next time for more information on the Hunter!

The Art of Bow and Arrow: PvP

So, in my previous levels of playing the Hunter class I have come to adore PvP'ing with it. I like it so much that I have even made a level 19 twink Hunter lol...I am going to be telling you how I usually pvp with my level 65 Hunter or with my twink. Well for starters, I am never on defense. If you ever join a battleground and I'm there you will see me on offense, trying to kick some ass... OK, so when I'm going up against others, I usually start off by using my Concussive Shot (hoping that Improved Concussive works), after that I use my Steady Shot so I can get that extra bonus. After those two, I use Intimidation on my pet and he will stun you long enough so I can use Aimed Shot and get a nice crit on you. After I do that I usually kite you around, by using the following Shots; Concussive Shot, Arcane Shot, Serpent Sting (if your a Paladin, Warrior, Hunter, Shaman, and Feral Druid), I will use Viper Sting only if you are a Priest, Mage, Warlock, Balance or Resto Druid. I usually lay down some traps such as Explosive Trap, so that everyone that comes near it gets hit since it is an AoE trap or if we have some massive group in the somewhere I will usually use Volley so that everyone around that area gets damaged while I'm at a long range, giving me a chance to kite someone if they come towards me... Well this is all I have for this time, come back soon for some more information on the Hunter class.

The Art of Bow and Arrow: A Guide to Playing Hunters

The Hunter class is full of controversy. There shouldn’t be any, but there is. People think that you have to play Hunters in one certain way, but you don’t. In fact, the Hunter class is quite versatile.

This is the first of ten articles about Hunters. They will be displayed once a week, and will have information about the Hunter class, such as:

  • How to PvP with a Hunter

  • What spec you should take

  • Gear?

  • But Hunter’s have a bad reputation!

  • 1-30 leveling guide

This first article is about the spec of the Hunter class. Many people think that to be a hunter, you send your pet in, stand back, arcane shot, then just auto-shot. Uh…boring?

The Hunter is so much more than that. It combines superior ranged combat with melee combat knowledge.

In my experience, the Hunter can be a DPS, CC, or even have their pet tank. I know that I can do DPS and my pet could tank ZF at level 45, so, yeah. Hunters are versatile.

I chose to be a hybrid Hunter, with a build of 48/13/0. This allowed me to level quickly and still have Aimed Shot and the reduced shot costs. I enjoy this build thoroughly, and I know that this build isn’t for everyone. For example, some players enjoy watching their victims squirm before finishing them off (Survival). Others just want to kill you quickly and efficiently so that they move on the next target (Marksman). And others like to humiliate the opponent who tries to send my pet packing (Beast Mastery).

As you can see, playing a Hunter can be fun. You can have a pet that fits your play style, the ability to shoot bullets or arrows at an opponent continuously, or just the fact that you have your own personal tank.

However, playing a Hunter can be frustrating. You have to be obsessed with your pets happiness, or you will lose a sufficient chunk of your DPS as well as the strength of your tank pet. And most importantly, people seem to not like Hunters.

And that is the topic for next week:

Why do people hate Hunters?
